Plymouth Parkway B 3 Morley Rangers 1
With leaders Horrabridge B engaged in the Devon Cup, Morley Rangers had the chance to regain top spot but went down 3 - 1 to third place Parkway.
Mark Gilbery shot Parkway in front only for Mark Davis to square matters, but Gilbery then became Parkway's hero by slotting in two further goals in the last ten minutes to complete his hat trick

Plymouth Parkway “B” 2-2 Roborough “B”
This was game was definitely 2 points dropped for Parkways youngsters as last minute ground change ruined Hunnisett’s tactics.
Parkway playing with a new formation of 343 looked relaxed and played some fantastic short passing but never really penetrated the opposition. Clarke, Partridge and Walton-Gould running Roborough’s defence ragged Clarke going close after a one on one miss in the first 10mins. But is was Roborough that took advantage after a poor mix up in the defence with communication, to slam the ball home. Within 5mins Parkway were level through Walton-Gould after some deft touches by Partridge. Then it was Roborough’s turn to mess up with Walton –Gould latching on to a through ball and chipping the on rushing keeper for 2-1.
With the experienced Dave Young and Ryan McShane having their work cut out in midfield it wasn’t long before Roborough were level. Their controversial right midfielder running poor Tom Rowlands in circles put over an inch perfect cross for their striker to volley home giving keeper Moody no chance. Parkway just didn’t have room to play their usual game and never really built up a full head of steam, again miss firing in the last third. Gilbery and Cassidy came on to brighten things up, but again chances went a miss, the story of Parkways season so far. Even after Roborough being reduced to 10 men in the 80th minute didn’t aid Parkways task as they fought out their 4th draw of the season.

Porters Inn 0-7 Plymouth Parkway “B”
An excellent hatrick by Mark Gilbery but a great all round performance got Parkway back on track to go 2nd in the league.
With 3 regulars missing and skipper Mark Blackwell suspended, Parkway came out of the blocks the quickest in a near faultless first half. After just 4mins Chris Clarke, playing wide right today struck a decent effort to make it 0-1. Walton-Gould then got on the score sheet to make it 0-2. The third the best move of the day, with the lively Joe Partridge having more room to move today turned over the perfect cross for Chris Clarke to nod home. On 25mins Gilbery not to be out done with an easy miss eluding him, fired home. Porters completely star struck then did try to come back into the game and at the end of a rousing first half defender Tom Rowlands cleared off his own goal line.
With 40yr old Dave Young leading the side today it was him who threaded the ball through for Gilbery on 50mins to make it 5. With the game really dead and buried it gave management duo Hunnisett and Blackwell the chance to look at others. Porters now with a mountain to climb made matters worse for themselves as they had a player sent off. From that game the perfect set piece of a corner with Clarke crossing for big Dave Cornelius, to nod down for a Partridge tap in for 0-6. Porters very frustrated were then reduced to 9 men for desentand upped stepped Gilbery for his hatrick after a mazy run and firing into the top half of the net for 0-7. A further 10 minutes were played and a missed penalty for Clarke but it was job done for Parkway as they continue there promotion chase.
Saturday 3rd November 2007 League Cup
Old Sutts “B” 3-2 Plymouth Parkway “B”
Parkway was VERY unlucky to come away from this cup defeat with nothing, after a good all round team performance apart from a few misses.
Going back to 352 after a poor defeat last week, Parkway unfortunately found themselves 1-0 down after 4mins from a well drilled free kick into the bottom half of Moody’s goal. However, the rest of the half was played in Sutts part of the field. With skipper Blackwell playing a sensible holding role and McShane winning everything, but it was the front 2 that were given the chances that went a begging. On 30mins it was Walton-Gould who chipped the on rushing goalkeeper to put Parkway back into this cup tie.
At the start of the second period Sutts did show some resistance but were well marshalled by Cornelius in top form.. It wasn’t long before they were rewarded with the lead. The influential Cassidy playing on the right today, cut in to fire a tremendous 30 yarder that Sutts goalkeeper only saw when it was in the back of the net.
Amazingly Sutts equalized within 10mins, after a long throw and Blackwell heading into his own net.
The eager Chris Clarke and Rikki Jones were then brought on to freshen the squad up, of which they did well, but it were chances that were going a stray.
Awfully on 85mins the Referee awarded a bizarre penalty to Sutts after neither team appealed! They casually tucked this away, but was to prove the winner, as although Parkway huffed and puffed Sutts shut up the shop to send Parkway out of the cup for the second week in a row.
Saturday 27th October 2007 Devon Intermediate Cup
Old Sutts “B” 6-5 Plymouth Parkway “B”
9 goals in the second half sealed Parkways fate as they crashed out of the Devon cup in the 2nd round and badly too.
On a tiny, awful pitch Parkway struggled in the first 15mins to put their game together. Playing a 442 also didn’t help with a system that they weren’t use to. But Sutts posed no threat as Parkway relaxed in to their attacking style. After a few missed free kicks, Gilbery latched onto a long ball, took it superbly and buried in the corner of the net for 1-0. The back 4 of Parkway never looked happy and it wasn’t long before Sutts striker broke free to equalize just before half time.
Playing against the conditions in the second half didn’t deter Parkway, as they added to their tally with Ryan McShane having another outstanding game to put Parkway ahead. Minutes later it was McShane who was the quicker who slotted home number 3. Then out of the blue Parkway was awarded a penalty and skipper Blackwell handed over the task to McShane to complete his hatrick with still 25mins to play. Then came the turning point, a Sutts player handled deliberately and received his second yellow card and got his marching orders. Hunnisett and McGovern then decided to make the change as feeling the game was won! A change of personnel at the back. Sutts came back immediately from a set piece to make it 2-4. They then went one better when awarded a penalty after Dan handled in the area. From another set piece Sutts amazingly equalized with 10mins to go! Hunnisett played his final hand and threw on 2 strikers to win the game. But it was the back 4 that were in no mans land after Sutts then took the lead after yet another poorly defended set piece.
Adam Moody then limped off, who wasn’t at his best today, so skipper Mark Blackwell donned the gloves as now Parkway were reduced to 10 men after using all their subs. This proved to be instantly successful as Blackwell made a point blank save then released the Ball for an attack which led to Shaun Dan firing into an empty net. Bizarrely enough 1 minute later Dan missed the same chance only for Sutts to go up the other end, force a corner and win the game!! 6-5.

Plymouth Parkway “B” 3-2 Chard Utd
Playing at Bolitho Park for the first time this season spurned Parkway to a hard fought victory courtesy of a superb Shaun Dan strike in the 74th minute.
In near perfect footballing conditions, Parkway had the luxury of using their first team pitch. Unfortunately, manager Hunnisett had again to take the whistle and to make things harder joint manager Mike McGovern was absent for the day. Parkway adjusted well first and had a few opportunities to take the lead but went a miss. Then Chard found their rhythm and started to play a similar passing game to Parkway. In the 21st minute they took the lead from a simple corner that Moody just didn’t come for! Not long after a fabulous move down the right with Gardner crossing for strike partner Gilbery to volley home from 6yds.
Rikki Jones not at his best today gave way for an eager Joe Partridge to enter the fray, giving a more attacking option to the team. But it was Chard who was proving more problematic. With both wing backs for Parkway not tracking their men, the opportunities were arising but the back 3 stood firm. However Blackwell having a storming match, burst through from midfield to be clattered by 2 Chard players in the penalty area. He coolly slotted home his second penalty of the campaign to make it 2-1. Chard came back with a sting in their tail and it was Blackwell this time the culprit bringing down their winger in the area. Moody had no chance as they made it 2-2.
Then the turning point with Shaun Dan and Tom Rowlands entering the arena. They really livened up the squad and in the 74th minute Rowlands knocked the ball perfectly into McShane’s feet who held it up, then releasing it to Dan who struck it so sweetly with the outside of his boot into the top corner. That proved to be the winner. However in the 85th minute a Chard forward lashed onto a pass that was heading for the top corner only to be acrobatically plucked out of the air by goalkeeper Moody keeping his team in the match and worthy of their 3 points.
Saturday 6th October 2007
Grenville “B” 1-1 Plymouth Parkway “B”
A disappointing display from Parkway, who really need to find their shooting boots, as yet they succumbed to another un-deserved draw.
Lining up a few fringe players Parkway held the line well especially Scott Rae and David Cornelius, who were up against a tricky front 2. But only after 5 minutes Chris Clarke, back from a recent injury, limped off. A re shuffle resulted in Declan Cassidy returning to the fray. Parkway was looking for chances on the break and certainly was getting the better of Grenville, but Scott Dan and Jamie Walton-Gould were missing the target.
Not long after the break Hunnisett Plumped for Pete Gardner to return after a poor run of form. He certainly did a lot of running, but again his shooting boots were left at home. So it was up to right wing back Cassidy to offer the punch that had been lacking, to fire them into the lead, and then did some perfect back flips to celebrate his second of the season. Parkway kept pressing but it wasn’t to be their day. Hunnisett and McGovern on the side lines were becoming more frustrated and then the inevitable, with 5 minutes remaining Grenville had one shot and scored. 1-1 at the end.
Saturday 29th September 2007
Plymouth Parkway “B” 0-0 Horrabridge “B”
Parkway left their shooting boots at home for this tight encounter, as honours were left even and strangely without a goal.
With a new formation of 343, this was a gamble against a well organised Horrabridge side. Infact in the first half after having most of the play, Parkway just couldn’t find a way through and were left to just half chances from distance. The back 3 and keeper Adam Moody were thankfully in fine form and managed to snuff out any attack from the visitors.
In the second period, Parkway sat back and manager Hunnisett became more frustrated with the lack of passing and then finally the missed opportunities. Walton-Gould was the first to make way for substitutes after 60mins, when plentiful chances went a miss for him. It was then Lee Purdy on his debut, to become goal shy. But it was not until the 80th minute, that Mark Gilbery had the best chance of the game, of which he fired straight at the keeper! By this time Parkway had lost their way and spaces had become tighter, but in the 89th minute poor Joe Partridges day finally took another down turn. First ending up on the subs bench after a late show then cut down from a very clumsy challenge which led to a melee of players getting very upset. The referee then did the right thing and blew up. Thankfully Partridge recovered well but not before a trip to the hospital. 0-0 the end score.
Saturday 22nd September 2007
Ordulph Arms 2-3 Plymouth Parkway “B”
A game of 2 halves as Parkway held on to a deserved victory after Captain Blackwell saw Red on 70mins.
Parkway started well and looked comfortable knocking the ball around using the wide men as usual, with Joe Patridge always a threat running at players. It was up to Jamie Walton-Gould breaking away and coolly slotting home the first after15mins. A few missed chances and some poor free kicking should of seen Parkway extend their lead, but it wasn’t until the 30th minute that the influential Ryan Mcshane popped up to make it 2-0.
The second half was a different story and Ordulph came out guns blazing. Already struggling on the left, Hunnisett made his substitution too late as the home side fired in a none cleared ball in the penalty area to make 1-2. Scott Rae making his debut in defence soon helped Parkway shut up shop with Adam Young having another outstanding game as sweeper. Parkway looked menacing on the break with Walton-Gould in full flight and he made it 1-3 with a fine left foot strike into the top corner. Parkway couldn’t hold on and Ordulph were back in it within 2 minutes of the re-start after a break down the left. Hunnisett wasn’t a happy man. Then things started to get worse as Mark Blackwell saw Red as a raise of hands to their midfielder saw him hit the deck as though he had been shot! So it was then left to the experienced Dan to show his colours as him and Chris Clarke guided the team to a rousing 15mins of stern defending and passion. However their was still time for poor Pete Gardner to miss chances but Parkway held on for a sweet victory.
Saturday 15th September 2007 George Gillian Cup
Plymouth Parkway “B” 8-0 University “C”
An absolutely awesome display in the second half saw the home side power through against fairly weak opposition in this first round tie.
Parkway with a strong starting line up were thrown as University came to defend only playing 1 up. So poor Billy Evans looked out of place as his man to man job didn’t stand today. It wasn’t until the 30th minute that Chris Clarke took a great pass from Ryan McShane to find the net. Then not long after Jamie Walton-Gould got his first of a good day for him. 2-0 at half time.
Hunnisett wanted more of the same as he made an early change to bring on Joe (mangle) Partridge. But it was on the right flank with Ricky Jones again in commanding form that the steady flow of goals came. Walton-Gould took his 2nd well, but then Clarke added his second too. It was a race to a hatrick with Walton-Gould ending a fine display of scoring by crossing over the Gks head for a fine fluke goal. Mark Phillips on his debut added a 6th with a brilliant bullet header. But Pete Gardener was not to be out done with his hard work on again a Hot September’s afternoon, adding 2 fine strikes at the end for a convincing 8-0 win, taking Parkway sailing through to the second round.
8th September 2007
Devon Cup 1st Rnd Western Mortgage Service 3-5 Plymouth Parkway “B”
Parkway was out for revenge in this game and they certainly got that, with some fantastic football in the first half to move into the next round of the cup.
After 5mins Captain Mark Blackwell slotted his first goal of the season away from the penalty spot. But then Mortgages went right up the other end and were awarded a soft penalty for 1-1. Gardener working hard in the September heat latched onto a through ball for 2-1, and it remained like that till the 30th minute. Birthday boy Joe Partridge (aka Mangle) came over to the left were room was a plentiful and slotted his first goal of the season away. He then ran the right back rugged. Created another for Chris Clarke for 4-1. Then the best goal of the game. Good sharp movement involving the influential Dann, Partridge wriggling through the defence to supply the perfect cross for long time mate McShane to volley home. 5-1 at the half time whistle.
Parkway took their foot off the gas in the second half in the sweltering heat, and was made to pay in the first 5mins. Slack marking from the midfield allowed Mortgages to slot home an easy goal. But then the light went out for Mortgages and Parkway shut up shop. However an injury to Blackwell on 80mins meant that Hunnisett, let down by 2 players today had to sacrifice his goalie for Shane Abreu to take the gloves. His first kick of the game went straight to a Mortgages player who said “thanks for the Gift” Hunnisett was Not pleased. The game then run its time and Parkway went through deserved winners.
4th September 2007
Plymouth Parkway “B” 0-2 Western Mtr Services
Parkway suffered their first home defeat of the season, but was up against the best team they have played yet, but really if chances had been taken could have won it.
Hunnisett played his first and probably last game of the season as he struggled to meet the pace of the game on a fine late summers evening. Deciding to play a 442, was probably the wrong option as Parkway huffed and puffed in the first half with little to show. Then at times on the defence were a little over run. A 30yrd dipper put Mortgages 1-0 up at the break.
Going with 352 in the second half and the back 4 made solely up of 16 yr olds was a gamble against a well organised opposition. However Parkway made it hard for them selves. With virtually all the play, they couldn’t find that killer pass and were far to goal shy. But it was the back 3 of Evans, Cornelius and Young that did superbly well to shepherd out any odd chances. With Ryan McShane finally finding out what adult football was about, he was the only threat for Parkway. On 85mins a weak cross wasn’t dealt with and Mortgages killed the game off with a lucky smash and grab 0-2.
1st September 2007
Plymouth Parkway “B” 8-2 Porters Inn
The score line was easily the right result in this one sided affair, which proved more difficult for manager Hunnisett as he took the whistle and had some controversial decisions to make.
The game started unbelievably quick and Mark Gilbery had netted 2 goals in as many minutes, with both well taken chances. But Porters stood firm and then settled into a rhythm. They grabbed a goal from a nothing free kick which easily sailed into Graham’s bottom corner. Shaun Dan then made an error and Porters had suddenly drawn level.
2-2 at Half time manager Blackwell told the team not to panic and continue playing the football. This they certainly did and were awarded a penalty on 50mins, which Gilbery slotted away for his hatrick.
Then the fun started and Parkway found the net a further 3 times. One from an Own Goal, the other 2 Jamie Walton-Gould slotting away. Infact Walton Gould wasn’t to be outdone and poked away his hatrick on 88mins. There was even time for Mark Gilbery to miss another penalty and Shaun Dan slot away the best goal of the game. But unfortunately the game was marred at the end with All the Porters team and manager surrounding Hunnisett and saying he was a cheat!! When they only had to look at the score line!
Thurs 30th August 2007
Horrabridge Rovers “B” 3-2 Plymouth Parkway“B
Parkway tasted their 1st defeat of the season, but was very unlucky to do so.
Although the first 20mins belonged to Horrabridge as Parkway settled, that was it, really only relying on the long ball to their sturdy centre forward.
Pete Gardner got Parkway underway on 25mins with a perfected lob over the on rushing goalkeeper. But Parkway shot themselves yet again in the foot, not clearing their lines from a long throw for a simple tap in.
Declan Cassidy having a storming match at left back, netted his first of the season with a direct header. But, yes you guessed it. On rushing goalkeeper Adam Graham timed his run wrongly and Horrabridge were awarded another easy goal.
Hunnisett quite annoyed at the break for this throwing away of leads, just asked his side to remain disciplined. And they did, up until Cassidy got injured and had to go off. The back 4 re-shuffled, with Rikki Jones slotting in nicely to centre half. The second half was certainly a tussle, but Parkway squandered yet more chances to kill off the game, with midfield Trojans Mark Blackwell and Chris Clarke at the centre of everything. But Blackwell lost his marker on 88 mins and paid the price as his thunder bolt cleared Graham’s hands, although quite easily, to win the game, for a fortunate Horrabridge!
Sat 25th August 2007
Old Sutts “B” 3-6 Plymouth Parkway “B”
This game was far from a classic as the score line might suggest.
It was Ryan McShane playing upfront that hit a thunderbolt in under 3 mins to start the goal machine rolling for Parkway. But immediately Sutts Replied with a soft goal and another mistake from Adam Moody. Parkway upped their game and Shaun Dan put his name amongst the scorers again with a tap in. But Silly mistakes cost Parkway once more and Sutts Equalized. It was 3-2 to Sutts after a simple free kick found the bottom end of Moody’s goal from a poor wall placement.
Then the game turned on its head with Sutts going down to 10 men. Parkway took charge and Gardener made it 3-3 on the turn of half time, chipping the goalkeeper.
Hunnisett changed personnel within the first 10 mins of the second half and was rewarded brilliantly with Jamie Walton-Gould making his debut coming up trumps with a well taken goal.
However Sutts then took the game to Parkway and a slight lack of shooting discipline and defending nearly cost them.
However, Walton-Gould got his second and Ryan Mcshane fired in with a last minute touch to win the game 3-6.
23rd August 2007
Ham Green Rovers 0-4 Plymouth Parkway “B”
A Change of formation and personnel meant this took Parkway a good 20 mins to settle. But it was a penalty against them that woke them up.
Brilliantly saved from Adam Moody to his left, was just what Parkway needed. They then took the game to Ham with Shaun Dan moving into midfield and Billy Evans shoring up the back. In fact it was the 3 16yr olds holding the line, which was infact to work well all night.
On 40 mins the deadlock was broken with at last Pete Gardner getting on the score sheet. 2 mins later Jack Poole took an opportunist effort from 25yds and found the bottom left corner. 2-0.
Young Declan Cassidy was then rested and eager Joe Partridge come on for his 1st appearance. The passing game then finally came and Parkway started to move the ball around very well on Butt parks big pitch, with Rikki Jones in commanding form in the right wing back role.
The third goal was superbly worked with the strong Dan brushing aside his man. Minutes later Mark Gilbery having a quieter game to date buried his turning shot into the corner of the net. There was even time for Mr McGovern to join the fray, if just for 15 mins!
18th August 2007
Chard Utd 2-2 Plymouth Parkway “B”
An excellent crowd of 60+ saw this great battle between these 2 new teams, but unfortunately on a Poor and small pitch.
It was Chard that took this to Parkway, with a lot of old players remembering Hunnisett as Manager from their Modbury days.
However, it was Parkway who drew first blood always looking menacing on the break. Chris Clarke picked up the ball on the far right and rifled a shot which skidded off the surface and under Chards goalkeeper to take the lead.
Minutes later Mark Blackwell handled in his area for Chard to tuck away an easy penalty to equalize.
With the game going either way, the lively Mark Gilbery latched onto a mistake and perfectly lobbed the goalkeeper from a difficult angle to restore Parkways lead.
Unfortunately, just when Parkway was really pressing, Goalkeeper Adam Moody dropped an easy cross right at their attacker’s feet for 2-2.
Hunnisett made a tactical change at Halftime to secure the defence and they needed it as Chard came out second half meaning business. They pressed Parkway for a good 20 mins but there was no way through the excellent pairing of Shaun Dan and Dave Cornelius in defence. With Mark Blackwell anchoring the midfield Parkway held strong. However could have snatched it at the death with Mark Gilbery unleashing a 30 yarder with Chards goalie just tipping over. 2-2 being the end score.
